Wow. I just wrote a post similar to this, but you put it so straight that I just clicked at how simple and power this self-limitation is.

I do it all the time. and the more i procrastinate and strive for perfectionism, the greater my expectations of how good that thing i'm putting off must be, so the more i put it off.

your suggestions on how to remedy it are power - specially about asking for advice because you get perspective that you otherwise don't see - helps your blind spots.

One solution i find that really helps me is to set clear deadlines and stick to them, that way your focus doesn't thin over a large period of time and you don't invent things to do during the alloted time. More time makes it seem more complicated than it is and waters down your focus.

Try this. Do not write on your desktop. Leave the desk and take your good old pen and paper. This will certainly help.

Don't think about search engine rankings. Write, post and get on to your next article.

Perfectionism does kill me every now and then. Sometimes I'm too worried that my posts won't make it to the search engine or it will be buried in like page 10+ in Google. I spend more time worrying about SEO and marketing my site than providing great contents.

I would spend times researching and writing for 1 post, at times a little too carried away that it affects the productivity of my blog. I do see myself as a victim of perfectionism, although far from being perfect, ironically. I would start focusing more on the problem, and have proper time management before it's too late.
