Whether it's a company or an individual, people always Google the name to know more about the concerned entity. As far as your videos are concerned, I must tell you - They are exceptional. I normally use Camtasia Studio to prepare elementary screen presentations. Will take some video creation classes from you in near future :)

I agree with Karen. A blog for your business is a great way to show that you're human or that there are humans at work. That way you connect much easier with your customers.

I find that many of my customers first check my name in Google wich bring them to my blog. They see my video's and get to know me a bit. Works great!

Well said Karen, it's the human touch that makes any blog - a successful blog. Undoubtedly, a good number of company blogs lack all the traits you have mentioned.

Keyword sprinkling and keyword stuffing are two different things and I see no harm in doing the former to get some SEO benefits.

A "corporate" blog can be worse than worthless, if it sounds like the usual bland PR. A blog needs personality, opinion, a human identity. Zappos is a great example. Advice or instruction is also good content, if written in the right style. Don't make your blog just another another "corporate communications" channel, or a reason to sprinkle keywords around.

Thanks for dropping by. Well, convincing a non-techie is indeed a challenging task, but certainly not impossible.

All you need to do is good homework before presenting your case. Your relative doesn't see any benefit in having a web presence. That's what you have to prove wrong. Research and prepare some case studies with concrete set of data. Show it to your relative and I can bet, 9 out of 10 times he/she will respond positively.

All you need is some real life examples where companies have profited after aggressively promoting their services on web.

Once your relative is assured of benefits, you can easily overcome the tech hurdle by assisting in setting up the blog. Once it is up and running, your relative can easily manage content creation :)

Hi,

What would be your #1 tip to someone who is not very techy at all, and their business is mostly run offline?

I ask because I have a relative in this very position, and am trying to get him to come online and have a web presence - but he's very anti-web marketing. Doesn't see the benefit.

I'm curious as to how you would advise someone in this position?

Both Wordpress and Blogger supports category based feeds apart from the main feed. Since you are on blogger, you can use the following format to offer category based feed to your audience.

For example, if I want to setup a separate feed for category "Blogging Tips" on MintBlogger. I'll burn this feed in my feedburner account.

http://www.mintblogger.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Blogging%20Basics

Simply, I have to copy this url and burn it in my feedburner account, like I burned the main blog feed. Make sure you give it appropriate title while burning. Hope this helps.

Rajeev, may I ask, for the 'Multiple Feeds for Audience' you suggest we have different feed subscriptions for each category, may I know how to configure that in our Feedburner? I thought only 1 feed is given for 1 blog? Thanks in advance. ^^
