Normally, people tend to follow more easily on twitter then subscribing to feed. If the blog on which your guest post is going to appear has huge following, your twitter followers' count will inflate much quickly.

Use Twitter Widgets and Badges

Instead of displaying a plain text link in your sidebar, use twitter widgets and badges to grab attention of the visitors. Various social media sites allow the use of custom HTML to enrich the user profile. Take advantage of any such option and use twitter widgets in your various social media accounts to drive people to your twitter profile.

Use Hashtags

Sometimes new twitter users do not understand the use of hastags well. They are just like tags in blog used to logically bind the content of a specific topic. Hashtags are tracked by people, and this crowd constantly look for relevant tweets associated with their hashtags. By using inline hashtags for relevant keywords, the reach of your tweet increases dramatically.

Hastags are used by prefixing the '#' symbol against the desired keyword.

In the example shown above, I have prefixed '#' symbol in front of 2 words (SEO, Wordpress). Apart from your followers, people tracking these two hashtags are more likely to pick your tweet and may reach your twitter profile. You can look for most popular hashtags on hashtags.org. If you want, you can also create your own hashtags through this site. Overuse or unnecessary use of hastags can sometimes annoy the followers and may result in mass unfollowing.
