Today, Entrecard has announced several major changes in its policies. After going through the announced changes, it certainly appears that EntreCard is in some trouble and these changes are an attempt to revive the business. Here is the list of important changes announced by EntreCard.
Credit Buying: Earlier 1000ec were worth $9.50. Now it has been reduced to $6.00 for 1000ec.
Pricing Policy: Hah! Now read this. With the new pricing policy, EntreCard will take a major chunk of credits earned from the ad and you will get peanuts (25% yours, 75% EntreCard's) out of it.
Credit Selling Banned: Another attempt to prevent leakage of accumulated capital. Now account holders cannot sell their credits.
Restricted Credit Transfers: Now you cannot transfer more than 1000ec or more than 14 credit transfers in a single week, whichever comes first.
Tax on Transfers: All transfers, including those done via new Payment API, will be taxed at 12.5%. Eating out the pie in every possible way.
Blog Unlinking Stopped: Now you cannot unlink your blog, once it is linked with the account. The reason they give is to keep check on those account holders who may try to bypass credit transfer limits.
Coupons Closed: Sending coupons are also closed from now on.
EntreCard Shop Closed: The EntreCard shop from which account holders were buying services from their credits has also been closed.

We really do believe that an economy with plenty of 3rd parties involved is a stronger economy overall, unfortunately just right now we're unable to support that given the need to keep everything running. We hope that, by taking the steps we have, we will be able to reach a good balance between maximizing the overall benefits for our users and getting the revenue we need to pay the bills and expand the service. Hopefully, in the future, we'll be in a stronger position with a more diverse income and we'll be able to reintroduce independent credit sales and unfettered credit transfers among members.
